Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and how to get rid of it.
Last updated 7 September 2026
AI in 5 min publishes a short daily briefing on learning AI. This page describes what happens to your information when you read it, and it covers only this site.
You can read without giving us anything
Reading the site requires no account. If you never sign in and never subscribe, we do not ask you for your name, your email address, or anything else that identifies you.
What we collect when you do sign up
- Your email address and display name. Accounts are handled by Amazon Cognito. Your password is set and stored there and is never visible to us.
- What you have read, saved and liked. Used to show your saved list, to count likes on an item, and to work out your reading score, streak and leaderboard position.
- Whether you want the newsletter. A single yes or no, which you can change at any time in your profile.
Cookies and similar technology
- A sign-in cookie. Strictly necessary. It is what keeps you signed in, and without it the site cannot tell one reader from another.
- Google Analytics. Measures which pages get read. Google sets its own cookies for this.
- Google AdSense. Ads on this site are served by Google, which uses cookies to select and measure them. Google's own handling of that data is described in its partner sites policy, and you can turn off personalised advertising in Google My Ad Center.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not pass your email address to advertisers. We do not show your email address to other readers: the leaderboard uses display names only.
If you ask for the newsletter, we send it using Amazon SES. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. You can also turn it off in your profile without deleting your account.
Where the data lives
On Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the Sydney region. Readers are welcome from anywhere; the servers are in Australia.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Delete the account and the personal data goes with it. Aggregate counts that identify nobody, such as the total number of likes on an article, remain.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to hello@aiin5min.com and we will action it. You do not have to give a reason.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be announced on the site.
Contact
Questions about any of this go to hello@aiin5min.com, or via the contact page.
